Resources
Practical ideas and activities for everyday life, along with trusted NDIS, health and education resources. These are shared from lived experience, with the hope of making things a little easier for other parents. This isn’t clinical advice, so always check with your child’s provider before making changes.
·Early intervention
What early intervention actually means

Early intervention is support for babies and young children with developmental delay, disability or developmental concerns.

Why starting early matters

Brain development is fastest in the first years of life, and the connections formed then shape later learning, communication and behaviour. That is why acting on a concern early, rather than waiting to see, is the consistent public-health advice.

Early support usually aims to:
  1. Understand your child's strengths as well as their needs.

  2. Reduce barriers to learning and participation.

  3. Build communication, including non-speaking communication.

  4. Support sensory and emotional regulation.

  5. Support family wellbeing and confidence.

  6. Embed skills into everyday routines, not only therapy rooms.

Research reviews of early intervention for young autistic children report gains in communication, cognition and adaptive behaviour, though the evidence base is still developing and results vary between children.
